His works expressed radical sympathy with those changes along with his own religious visions and personal mythology. Despite a lack of formal academic training\, he was astonishingly well-read and multi-lingual. His mythology drew upon a wide variety of sources and was also inspired by archetypal images from the Bible. Though he was relatively obscure in his lifetime\, today he is the most popular poet of his era. The numinous aura of his work continues to attract an ever-increasing number of readers worldwide. The presentation will recap his life and times and display his visionary art and poetry\, including works set to music. Blake’s unique illuminated books combine his poetry and visual art; they must be seen together to be fully appreciated. \nDouglas Hansen majored in Religious Studies at Santa Clara University. In his business career he was primarily a technical writer\, professor\, and administrator\, and over 1.5 million copies of his publications have been sold. Upon retirement\, he returned to his earlier intellectual pursuits and has devoted the last few years to the study of William Blake. He is married to the artist Elizabeth Hansen\, whose work is currently on display at 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ. \nFor inquiries\, please email symposium@drbu.edu\nSymposium website: /symposium URL:/event/doug-hansen-william-blake/ LOCATION:91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ SW Upstairs Lounge\, 1991 Virtue Way\, Ukiah\, CA\, 95482\, United States CATEGORIES:Colloquium Lecture Series END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
